sulfur shaped fungus(Laetiporus sulphureus)  I saw these mushrooms growing on a tree in Santa Monica .They had brilliant orange-red caps and pale sulfur-yellow pore surface. There were no stem and the caps were directly attached to the tree. These are also called chicken mushroom and chicken of the woods. Size: 2 to 12 inches wide. I learned that these are actually edible but I don’t recommend it.
